Zambians are naturally attracted to thieves, says Chishimba-Access Full Details Below
TIME to stop abusing President Edgar Chagwa Lungu has come; we are targeting a wrong person, says Saviour Chishimba. Commenting on Patriots for Economic Progress president Sean Tembo’s statement that President Lungu should be subjected to mental examinations and his consequent detention, Chishimba said the Head of State was healthy. Instead, the United Progressive People leader said it was all the Zambians that needed mental examinations.
Chishimba said President Lungu must be commended for being the most honest politician in the history of Zambia as he openly said that he had no vision of his own apart from Michael Sata’s. He said regardless of President Lungu’s crude honesty, it was the citizens of Zambia who overwhelmingly danced all the way to voting booths to vote for the current government.
“I empathise with Mr Sean Tembo who is in detention for defamation of the President. Nonetheless, I believe that time to stop abusing President Edgar Chagwa Lungu has come. We are targeting a wrong person. As I have submitted before, it was all of us the citizens of Zambia who overwhelmingly danced all the way to voting booths to vote for the current government,” Chishimba said. “President Edgar Chagwa Lungu must be commended for being the most honest politician in the history of Zambia. He openly said that he had no vision of his own apart from Sata’s. What Sata’s vision was? Sata appointed the same people who were in the MMD as deputy ministers leaving the bona fide PF members who deserved appointments. President Edgar Chagwa Lungu continued on the same path.”
He recalled that contrary to lowering taxes, the Sata administration started removing subsidies, among other anti-growth measures. Chishimba reminded Zambians that it was not President Lungu who went for the Euro Bond and many other debts in the first few years of the PF government but president Sata whose vision the latter was merely fulfilling.
“There was an outcry in the country, but, as usual, we allowed it to pass. The first luncheon at State House was for the Chinese. To ensure that Chinese corruption and State capture were fully entrenched, RDA was placed under the purview of State House. As if this was not enough, the government went on a reckless borrowing spree,” he said. “It was not President Edgar Chagwa Lungu who went for the Eurobond and many other debts in the first few years of the PF in government. When Situmbeko Musokotwane (UPND chief whip) was finance minister, he presided over an economy that saw an influx of the Chinese in virtually all sectors. It was expected that the government would reverse this, but the status quo was maintained.”
Chishimba said citizens were accomplices to what the country had become and “we must pay the price in full.”
He said if Zambians were true unto themselves, they would stop blaming President Lungu who had so faithfully kept his words. Chishimba maintained that President Lungu was a product of the will of the people and should accept the reality that the majority rule.
“It’s time that all of us took responsibility for our decisions, take what you like and pay for it,” he said.
“Today, citizens are already continuing to rally behind political groupings of the same regrouped looters and abusers of the State. This is a clear indication that we never ever learn. We are accomplices and we must pay the price in full. This is the season of conscience examination. If we are true unto ourselves, we would stop blaming President Edgar Chagwa Lungu who has so faithfully kept his words. Simply put, President Edgar Chagwa Lungu is a product of the will of the people and let’s accept the reality that the majority rule.”
Chishimba said he collective decisions of citizens had brought the country to where it was.
“A friend or comrade of mine told me a few weeks ago about a call he received from his relative who was sick and wanted his help in Chawama. My friend organised money and rushed to see the patient. To my friend’s shock, the sick relative was praising the government for massive development,” Chishimba said. “Our collective decisions, as citizens, have brought us to where we are. We are a foolish citizenry that continues to reject knowledge. Zambians are naturally attracted to thieves. Genuine leaders with ideas that can take Zambia out of murky economic waters are never supported. The same known thieves keep polluting the political environment and Zambians allow it.”
He lamented that until now, Zambians were unrepentant and that they cannot receive the message of political salvation.
Chishimba said it was impossible for the unrepentant to receive salvation.
